My birth card calculator reached page one in 10 days. It still gets almost no clicks

Last week I wrote about a small tarot site I run, https://tarot-magic.com, and how a birth card calculator picked up more Google impressions in three days than any of my 312 card pages. I said I would come back when the calculator had more data. It has now been live for ten days, and the picture is better and stranger than I expected.

What changed in a week

Search Console, whole site, two weeks side by side:

Oct 11 - 17 Oct 18 - 24
Impressions 883 1,661
Clicks 18 23

In early October the site got somewhere between 70 and 160 impressions a day. Since October 19 it has not dropped below 185.

The Russian version of the calculator did most of the work:

Russian calculator page Oct 16 - 18 (first 3 days) Oct 18 - 24
Impressions 196 563
Clicks 3 3
Avg. position 23.5 19.1

The four language versions together got 712 impressions that week. The best card page got 38.

Page one, says Ahrefs

Average position 19 sounds like page two. Ahrefs disagrees. It now shows two ranking keywords for the whole domain, and both point to that page: the main Russian query for "calculate your arcana by date of birth" (2,600 searches a month by their estimate) at position 6, and a shorter variant at position 7.

So the page sits in the top ten for the query that matters, and the average of 19 comes from dozens of long phrasings where it ranks lower. I made this mistake with average position once already, on the card pages. It is the same trap from the other side: a good page can look mediocre because it is visible for more searches.

Where the clicks went

563 impressions and 3 clicks is a CTR of 0.5%. Even if most of those impressions are the long tail on pages two and three, the top ten share should bring more than that.

I have two guesses, and I haven't checked either of them yet.

The first is the results page itself. If Google or another site shows a widget where you type a date and get a number, there is no reason to click.

The second is my snippet. The title and description read like an article, not a tool. They explain what a birth card is, but they don't say you get your answer from one date field.

It may also be simply too early. Ten days is not much, and Google is probably still trying the page at different positions.

I am not changing anything until November. The last time I edited snippets in the middle of a test I lost my control group, and I would rather wait a month for clean numbers.

The question

Has anyone run a small calculator or converter page that ranked on page one but stayed near 0.5% CTR? Was it the results page eating the clicks, or did a different title fix it?
